Account status incorrect. I am submitting this complaint because a creditor is violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), specifically Section 623 ( 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ) Responsibilities of Furnishers of Information . The creditor charged off the account and claimed it as a loss on their taxes, receiving a tax deduction. Despite this, they continue to report the account as an active debt to the credit reporting agencies and/or are still attempting to collect on it. This raises XXXX major issues : Inaccurate Reporting : Under FCRA Section XXXX ( a ), furnishers must not report inaccurate information. Reporting a charged-off debt as unpaid or delinquent, without properly marking it as charged-off, is misleading and violates this provision. Failure to Update or Correct Informat
