Account information incorrect. XXXX XXXX I am filing a complaint against XXXX XXXX for inaccurate credit reporting. They are reporting a charged-off account with a remaining balance. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ), furnishers must report accurate information. A charged-off account that is closed and should not show a balance. Also, since the balance is reported for {$1000.00} and they are showing it as charged off. I believe they need to file a 1099-C with the IRS. Under IRS rules ( 26 U.S.C. 6050P ), a creditor must issue a Form 1099-C ( Cancellation of Debt ) if {$600.00} or more. If they claimed they did file a 1099-C, they should produce it as proof. I have asked for this proof. I have not received this proof. If they claim the debt is still owe
