Problem with the interest rate. Navient ( at the time known as XXXX ) gave me a ridiculous interest rates ( some > 9 % ) on my private student loans and required me to have co-signers. It is my belief that it was discrimination at work because of my XXXX name. Friends of mine also with no credit history ( like me ) but not with XXXX names were able to obtain loans with reasonable interest rates and without co-signers. I asked XXXX at the time why this was and they could not explain and said that 's what the market rate was without further explanation. I have suffered great financial pain in repaying these loans as a result of the ridiculous interest rates.
