Can't close your account. My wife has been diagnosed XXXX XXXX, and I have taken steps to limit her access to funds, as XXXX XXXX is a symptom of the illness. We had two Capital One accounts together, ending in XXXX and XXXX respectively. I called Capital One and asked them to close the accounts because I knew my wife did not have the financial means to pay them, yet she would continue to use them. They told me the only way the accounts could be closed is if the balances were paid in full. I paid them both off in full. I was told at that time the accounts would not be reopened.
