Account status incorrect. So late summer 2023 I was looking at options for my student loans due to all the new programs coming out. I was informed that due to the classification of my loans with XXXX that, they would need to be consolidated and I was told this by a 3rd party. I was surprised that XXXX did not reach out as a servicer letting their customers know of this issue with older student loans. I then started the consolidation process via https : //studentaid.gov and I was given the impression that the loans would go into deferment status during the process. However, the loans did not go into deferment and upon seeing the loans were reported to the credit reporting agency I contacted nelnet and applied for a deferment manually.
